Loved my adventure here! Hints: If you are going to take the more challenging trail, please wear good shoes with excellent grip and take water. There are some significantly steep, narrow, and even eroded areas. The easier trail is nice to take in the way back. Watch and listen for deer. I had a huge buck run right in front of me while I was paused for water (I could have touched him if my arm had been extended). Beautiful for sure, but also a "holy..." moment 😁

Rock Park in Castle Rock is an absolute treasure! The hike to the top is a bit challenging, but the panoramic views of the town and the Front Range are absolutely worth it. It's the perfect spot for a picnic, a sunset hike, or just to enjoy the beauty of Colorado. The park is well-maintained, and the trails are easy to follow. Highly recommend checking it out!

Skill level I would say it's a 6/10 if you stay on the designated trail. Loose sand/gravel on most of the hike. Some areas have been improved using wood 6x6s as steps. Since the trail no longer has stairs to the very top, some rock climbing is required for the summit that i would say is a 9/10 hiking skill. (climbing skill, it's a cool 1 mayyyybe 2/10). Definitely not for little kids or the uncoordinated. ⚠️ BE AWARE of your footing and ☠️CHECK BEFORE YOU STEP☠️ for loose rocks from CONTINUOUS EROSION⚠️ The easiest route I found was where you can see the old handrail from the viewpoint with the end of trail sign. (North East side) Start climbing there and go to the right. Please be safe and conscious of yourself and other visitors. Stick to the trails if you get dizzy from heights or unsure of your ability to climb safely. Back for a summer visit and its still just as lovely. Having a picnic before I have to go do adult things at the courthouse😔

A local favorite for the family. Always a great view any time of the year from either the base or the top. There are a couple different paths to the top to mix things up and the shorter distance is great for the kiddos. I've taken many great photos here over the years and always enjoy what might be in store.

Well maintained trail. One of my favorite quick hikes. Love going up the summit trail and back down for quick workout when I'm pressed for time. Sad to see so much graffiti on the rock. We should take care of it better. Porta-john at trailhead. Eight picnic tables that are covered at trailhead. One picnic table and several benches up top. Climb the rock at your own risk.
