We love Rock Quarry Park itself (the entire complex, not just the dog park) but have needed to avoid it lately due to bad experiences walking NEAR the dog park. There are a few dogs that frequent the dog park when we typically walk our dogs. They are poorly managed (no owner supervision) and aggressively charge for the fence when we walk by. This scares our dogs and has started causing anxiety when we go by. We have found ways to double back on the trail, however, the only dog-friendly water fountain is placed directly in front of the dog park. This makes it inaccessible for dog owners who are trying to responsibly socialize their dog. The dog park itself seems like a nice facility. Spacious, protected from the sun, and different areas for small and large dogs with a neat dog run agility section. I am sure the facilities are enjoyable if you are comfortable with a large dog aggressively running at you every time you walk by, let alone try to use the dog-friendly water fountain or enter a different part of the dog park.

First time taking my dog to the park. Great event and many dog to play with. My dog loved it. My dog is addicted to the playground. She is very sweet and loves to play with other dogs, and the area is big enough for her to get tired and come back home to take a nap.

Wonderful dog park with three separate fenced in areas for play; an agility course and ball toss, small dog play, and larger dogs play areas. There are water bowls in each area and a fresh water fountain for dogs at entrance/exit. Dog poop bags and bug spray are also available. Dog owners are very responsible about keeping areas clean. To maintain safety for all dogs, registration is required through Durham Parks and Recreation.

It's very nice, but all three areas are fairly small, especially the small dog area. I think that's par for the course for dog parks around this area, but if you want a bigger space (still not huge but better), go to the one in south Chapel Hill. The agility area is fun though! We enjoyed that :)
