We were staying on Shelter Island for my daughter's wedding recently. One of the things we all enjoyed very much was walking around the island. There are beautiful and interesting sculptures and mosaics. And, of course, views of the bay and the San Diego skyline. There are always plenty of watercraft to watch and the sailboats on the water are beautiful.

Beautiful park on the San Diego harbor. Good long walking sidewalks, lively grass area to hang out for your picnic and lots of good people watching. Boat ramp and bathrooms.

Shelter Island for July 4th fireworks, New Year's Eve fireworks and just visiting the water, bonfire with the fam, all options for this location. Not too mention the boat ramp to the San Diego Bay.
