Weekdays, Silverwood Lake Recreational Area is Dr. Jeckle...but on the weekends it turns into Mr. Hyde. In other words, enjoy it through the week. It's a beautiful place with lots of wildlife (had a little bobcat chasing quail around my campsite) very quiet and peaceful...but come friday night you can expect crowds and noise! Bathrooms were clean through the week...but weekend crowds with kids leave their mark, so to speak. Showers were clean, but no hot water. Bring your quarters. Nice paved bike trail...boat ramp and fishing.

Silverwood Lake Recreation Area offers a peaceful, scenic escape into nature that feels just far enough from the city to breathe—but still close enough to keep things convenient. The landscape is beautiful: sweeping lake views, lush trees, and that crisp, high-desert air that hits different when you wake up in the morning. The campsites are nicely spaced, and the lake access is a definite highlight—perfect for fishing, kayaking, or just sitting back and taking in the serenity. Trails are well-kept, wildlife is present but not invasive, and the entire area feels like a little retreat where time slows down just enough to reset. That said, not everything was pure bliss. The folks across from my campsite decided to soundtrack the wilderness with loud, obnoxious music that ran late into the night. It killed the peaceful vibe a bit and was a jarring contrast to the natural stillness surrounding us. A reminder that sometimes it’s not the place—but the people—that affect the vibe. Aside from that hiccup, I had a genuinely delightful time. Silverwood Lake is a gem, especially for anyone looking to reconnect with nature—just maybe bring some earplugs, or hope your neighbors come with better taste in music and a volume knob. For this reason it is not worth $50USD. Maybe $20 for the slot. I prefer to hear nature not music blaring louder than most stereos on the market!

Silverwood is definitely a great place to camp that's local to LA county. I highly recommend to experience this campground at least once. I usually stop once a year to camp with me and my big group of family members. However, when we went this last time the lake was closed due to the algae. Perfect place for hiking, mountain biking and campfires.

I really enjoyed the campsite. Mine had some shade and privacy. Love the water faucets around the camping sites and bathrooms stay pretty clean. It's a 5 min drive to the 2 beaches on the lake to go swimming. I saw dogs by the beach in the picnic areas as long as they don't go on the sand part of the beach or in the water. If you want to go farther out on your paddle board or kayak, you need to wear a life vest

This place was amazing. I was very hesitant at first, because I went to Lake Gregory and they told me there was no swimming in that lake, so we came to Silverwood. It was perfect 👌 the lake is big and there are many benches to choose from. Some were near the shore, others were very secluded & romantic. There were many couples there and the sunset was gorgeous. Venture out to the trails and you'll find yourself in the trees and the running creeks. There are so many animals here. There are rattlesnakes and bears nearby. The squirrels are all over the place and so friendly & used to human contact. I highly recommend it for the whole family. They close at 9pm, but they do have a campground. Camping costs $40 without hookups to rv's. They have running water near the picnic areas. They have plenty of grills there as well. The parking costs only $10 for the day. Have fun!
