Great birding location for traveling adventurers. We saw a number of couples on SUPs, a few swimmers with swollen dry bags, lots of birds, and no homeless folks.

Love this dog park and the community. It is diverse, like Sacramento. There are fenced areas for below 25 pounders and above 25 pounders. The large dog side is above two acres. Water for dogs and usually a bowl or two and sometimes a pool. Most of it is decomposed granite, which is great for keeping nails naturally trimmed. Come if you are OK with diversity in owners and politics, and are ok with dogs being dogs. Don't come if you want to meet people of specific stripes, or are very nervous about your dog's behavior and other dogs. The dogs feel the anxiety. Fall winter and spring-the park drains very well from rain. There are bugs that can be picked up around the grassy periphery. Late spring and summer-The grassy area goes brown. Shade is limited and there are foxtails and thistles. The city does a pretty good job cutting down problem weeds, but it seems to be only once every few weeks.

The riverside part of this park is beautiful. We parked at the dog park nearby and walked in, but there are closer parking areas that you might want to check out. What made us nervous was the number of vehicles people are living in on these parking lots. No bueno. Lock everything obviously but make sure nothing can be seen inside your car. After we parked we made our way down to the river. Near the entrance there were tons of people sitting on the beach and enjoying the water. We walked about 5 minutes away and from then on the beach was empty. The views were gorgeous and the water cool - perfect for our dog to enjoy. We will definitely go back. Fair warning there are people living on the opposite bank in tents. Crazy. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I love this area. You have the dog park, the trails and the river. All the best things! There's also a covered skatepark if that's your thing.

I didn't have the opportunity to check out this part of Sutter Park because I brought my dog to play at the dog park. But there is plenty of parking and everyone is friendly and it's a good atmosphere to enjoy the outdoors. And the river is close by too.
