I visited this park because I am from Tashkent, Uzbekistan - so when I had a chance to go to Seattle, I had to check it out. The park was smaller than I thought but quite pleasant. There was a group of homeless people hanging out and trying to cook something, but everyone was friendly. The neighbourhood is quiet and overall quite pleasant.

This park is symbol of peace and settled during so called Cold War between United States and Soviet Union. Taskent city (former Soviet Union and the capital of independent state of Uzbekistan now) became sister-city of Seattle. People need for peace and communication instead of challenges are existing. Nice place to take a rest and especially for me who is from Tashkent... Peace to all... 🙏🙏🙏

Stopped by here after we got our hotel & bought some treats at the local dispensary on foot, we came from california for a random trip to Seattle & this park helped us ground ourselves with how beautiful the city was after roaming a bit. I was surprised how preserve everything looked as we too clean after ourselves on such a beautiful planet, CA is hardly up with it cleanliness honestly & it’s a big active populated state so this was nice. Would love to come back to this location again.

This park is such a beautiful forgotten piece of history. Not many seem to know about Tashkent park or that it was of great historical significance. Seattle was the first city in the US that became a sister city with a city in the Soviet Union, during the height of the Cold War none the less. There are beautiful tiles made by the Soviet children in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, who wrote “Peace” in both English and Cyrillic. The historic effort of becoming a sister city with a Soviet city in the name of peace and cooperation between the people of each city was a noble cause. It’s disheartening to see that the park seems to be forgotten, with alot of the tiles and other original structures being damaged, but none the less the legacy of the park is one of beauty, the pursuit of Peace and Prosperity between all people.

Sadly, this little park has become more like Trashkent than Tashkent. It feels completely neglected, overgrown, and taken over by homeless encampments and shady activity. What should have been a welcoming community space is now rundown and uninviting. Very disappointing and sad. The sister city organization has left this beautiful park to rot 🥺.
