I used to go here. Just awful. There's a guy who always insists on bringing his aggressive dog into the small dog side. He acts as if he's entitled to do so. One time he yelled to me from his car window asking when I would leave with my little dog so he could go in. Everyone here loves this jerk, and I dont understand why. On top of that, mosquitoes are so bad in the summer, there's really no point in even trying.

There are pictures of the for a fee dog park on here. It is right on Hines, and then there is a free dog park if you drive down the little road back away from Hines drive. You have to go back past the bike trick track for the free dog park. The paid dog park again is right on Hines and you pay at the Nankin mills nature center (go to Wayne county dog park webpage for hours) and show proof of vaccination. They will give you a code to get into paid park. The fence gate keypad breaks a lot. People are nice. I use the small dog park if there are no dogs there and too many mean dogs in the big dog park. No one has said anything to me. (Though... there is some guy who thinks he is a crocodile Dundee wannabe - won't ever be - who believes he owns the place. (Own a a poodle - right?)Don't make eye contact. You be ok. Just an old goat).

My dogs love it here. It gets muddy when it rains, and the mosquitoes are atrocious, but it's about the dogs having fun. The water hookup and covered pavilion are nice, especially in the summer. There's a good assortment of toys and balls left here, but mostly my dogs like playing with the other dogs. As far as the membership goes, yeah it's a bit of a chore to bring in all your paperwork to Nankin Mills, but the fee is only $20 per year. Even if you only bring your dog twice a month, that's less than a dollar per visit.

Hines Park is a decently large park with many open spaces to put a dog park yet the Wayne County dog park is absolutely tiny. Not only is it small, but it's placed directly next to the river so that every time a decent rain comes, it is completely under water. After a few days and the flood goes down, the dog park is a mud pit. The city seems to think that closing the dog park for 6 weeks in the spring for "reseeding" is actually going to make the grass grow back. It doesn't. When large dogs are in such a confined space, grass gets torn up. It's always muddy here. The county does not take care of the dog park like they should. Patrons of the park do more for the dog park than the county does. The only great thing about this park is that there is a never ending supply of water for the dogs. Also, there are no bathrooms for the owners. I would rather drive out to an Oakland County park because they are much larger with plenty of room for dogs to actually run.

Small little dog park that has a lock managing access for pets and owners. Open year round this space gives a nice place for the community to enjoy some time with their best friends. There is a split area for large and small dogs to provide security and balance for the spectrum of dogs out there. Come and enjoy! 🐶
