Western Springs splash pad and park is nice! Very windy location though. Small, cute splash pad, good playground next to it. Has bathrooms, drinking fountains, and shaded pavilions and benches, plus a huge hill great for running down, and a huge field at the bottom to run around.
It’s really nice to have a splash pad right by a playground. If the wind is right you’ll get hit with mist, which is great on a hot day. The splash pad and playground are both decent, nothing to rave about but still enjoyable. There’s also a huge hill, which my kids (ages 4.5, 2.5, and 1.5) enjoyed to a surprising degree. The biggest con is probably that they have no swings. If they did I may have given it 5 stars. I am also not a fan of the tunnels connecting the playground levels - they are tough for small kids to climb and a tight fit for bigger kids. Another small issue is that later in the evening around 7 the trees block the sun, making the splash pad chilly.
I loved how the playground was designed, felt so nice. Playing in the splash pad was cool but it was cold right after. The hill next to the massive playground would be amazing for winter sliding, I'm sure people would enjoy doing that.
It's a pretty good park. It's always windy!! The sand at the volleyball courts is hard. The playground and the splash pad are fun for kids. There are horseshoe pits and pretty big open grassy areas. There's a really big hill for sledding in the winter time.
Great park! I love that they thought of shading the bench! There is a water area, but we didn't use it. We weren't dressed for it. Fun hills to roll down too!
