I'd rate it lower but the dogs really seem like it. Pretty dirty, parking lot is full of people who are living in their cars/campers, theyre harmless, but it's not exactly a super nice place to hang out. Then again, if you are trying to drink a beer or two, maybe smoke a little something, it is very chill. Been going for years bc my dog loves it and it's a huge park. If you're passing through and don't mind a little dirt, your dog will probably enjoy the diversity and good smells.

I've driven past this park countless times, but had never stopped in until today. I had noticed the trees, and although there are only a few, the older specimens are absolutely amazing. What I hadn't noticed was that it's an enclosed dog park. One large fenced area, with two smaller pens in one corner. BTW, the smaller pens have an added gate between them which was off of it's hinges and zip-tied in place. As a result it was no longer secured by the latch. I grabbed wrenches from my car and reset the hinges. I wasn't there very long, but will likely return in the near future. Especially on those busy work days that might leave me a bit too grubby for my own comfort at the dog parks we frequent nearby in Santa Monica. The vibe in Venice is rather laid back, and that was evident in the handful of people we chatted with in the short time we were there this evening...

Decent dog park with parking, fencing, and a small dog area that separate from main area. Bring your own bags, they are usually out. A lot of dog walkers frequent here, they are friendly and the dogs are well socialized too. There is a building that shares the parking lot with the park that a few homeless folks seem to be camped out at but I would say it is still pretty safe (compared to some other Venice spots, at least) . There is also a large green lawn next to the park and dogs and thier owners sometimes utilize that area too. Two big banyan trees shade the north side of the park and there is limited street parking on that side too. Years ago, Venice floated the idea of turning the spot into a homeless resource center since it is centrally located and close to the beach (between Pacific and Main Street and a few blocks north of Windward Ave.) but then they realized it's hilly location overlooks Westminster elementary school's playground and they built the dog park instead.

By far the best dog park I've ever seen not by looks that's for damn sure it's quite small compact feeling like standing in New York City Manhattan shoulder to shoulder and you have a place to go but there's no way through it could get like that there with dogs solar to shoulder a little bit of chaotic at times if you have good owners alpha ship is important this place is great you can be decent cool people on and off drugs your choice what you like to do or how you like to chill out a park eat whatnot play with your dog is a friendly open place and if your dog is violent they have separate play yard for a segregated pedro . Also a good place to seek for a job if you want to walk dogs for their rich people who are sometimes lazy and bored other things wanting to do or business has kept them occupied at such levels they need help babysitting and dog parks in commonplace to find labor especially when you watch an owner with his dog and his dog listens to him and literally follows his shadow walks his footsteps stays in rhythm I have a dog red nose terrie pitbull his name is PAWPI who comes here time to time it's a cool place it just gets a little boring cuz you're not much to do besides open grass and then dog yard they never access or use the building very often that sits there they treat it like storage I don't know if they have a snack bar or not I've never really seen it but I can't say it yes or no to that I had just haven't seen it but I can't say this My name is Jonathan Foster 3 years ago I was in a program called path abridged to home which is two blocks away from this dog park which is currently now shut down and stripped to nothing it's the old building he used to be the bus station on main and sunset avenue I ride in LA at McArthur Park and got in a situation at nearly killed me including a hit-and-run I couldn't walk for 6 months but I was forced homeless and I stumbled from downtown LA Cicero to dog park in Venice on accident just lost looking for a place to start builders do something as I were old for this wheelchair and I can't walk Life sucks looking up all the time and everything he realized how small you really are how complex life is I got into the program thanks to my broken legs and I would visit this park to a friend who is also a dog walker with three German Shepherd He's amazing dude he's a kind heart he's full of gratitude and carries a bit of honor and self-respect He's a deserving person I had a good experience for this part I spent four days homeless here and got housing immediately due to my current situation I wouldn't have made it I would have probably died due to lack of sustainability on food and drinks The lack of knowledge on knowing places no clothes no phone cuz those robbed in LA by I grew up a gangbangers that I recently learned that is a reality not just Hollywood Me and my dog p a w p r are from Arkansas. So I will say yes this place is amazing for both than just dog it has good people there inspired me and gave me hope here I am pushing forward still working my butt off to do anything I can from hustling to learning new things and it's a place I visit commonly on my trip to Venice which I go every other day I always strideb through the dog park it's a constant reminder and flashback of how and why I was here and what this place did for me by just pointing the direction that I need to go at all phone place all because I landed at this dog park so yes I say go there and yes there are some really good walkers waiting on your money so I would say instead of going to buy that $7,000 pizza with gold shavings on top put a little more extra money into extra dog walking hustle them dudes out there make them work for it hoorah
