What dog owners are saying
Recent review snippets help visitors gauge vibe, upkeep, and who each park suits best.
Y'all gonna put a new pavilion up or really just expect us to take our children into a nasty portapotty that drug addicts frequently use forever? I'm sorry someone burned down the pavilion, but the rest of us and our children don't deserve to be punished. One portapotty for all the fields, the playground, the Katy trail and the commuter parking is insane. I know there's money for at least a bathroom to be built there, and yet we had to endure a lone portapotty because nobody could be bothered. It's a shame too because this was a nice park.
Read more about North Jefferson City Recreation AreaProbably the best dog park we have ever been to, and we've lived everywhere from New York to Alaska. It's HUGE! It's clean, well maintained, the fencing is in great shape, there's always fresh water via a pump, there are always toys, there are plenty of places to grab a bag and dispose of waste, there is a flat gravel track around the inside perimeter for walking if you want to get some exercise with your dog, there are places to sit, shade trees, a picnic table, and, access to bathrooms! This park adjoins a multi-use municipal building that somehow generally remains unlocked (as some locals informed us), and the bathrooms are very well kept and stocked. There are coded locks on some of the gates so PLEASE be mindful of this! The municipal building has a side entrance accessible from the dog park, and you have to go through a gate that can shut behind you that has one of these locks; if that side building door happens to be locked you could get stuck, so make sure you know the code or that the side door is unlocked, prop open the gate, or that other people are there just in case! Overall, this is an absolutely fabulous public dog park! And the state motto of Missouri really should be "Missouri- we LOVE dogs!" because everyone seems to go crazy over them!
