This is a great spot to walk and enjoy nature ! There are so many trails. We love walking around this lake. You can fish here but the lily pads were grown up when we walked it but people were out fishing. There is a cool beaver den you can see from the trail by the lake. Awesome spot for pictures! There are cameras now set up in the parking lot. Sign suggests not leaving valuables in vehicles.

Asylum Lake Preserve in Kalamazoo is a beautiful place to visit. The trails are well-maintained and perfect for a peaceful walk or hike. The lake is serene, and the natural surroundings are stunning. It has the best fall color foliage, and in spring, the area is full of vibrant green colors. It's also a great spot for bird-watching and enjoying nature. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a quiet escape!

It would be best to extend north trail with south trail to form a loop around the lake. No access to little asylum lake. No activity can be done on the lake. Kind of boring hikes. South parking lot is small and no space during weekend.

Very nice trail for running or walking. Beautiful views! You have to park on the road. There are toilets and benches to sit and rest. Lots of deers and squirrels.

-Pets are allowed but leashed This is without a doubt a first-class nature preserve, with interconnected trails going throughout the entire area, wildlife within a stone's throw everywhere you go, mushrooms all over the place if you like forging, stunning scenery, two different porta-potties, and even benches periodically on the main trail. The main trails are clearly maintained well and the ONLY tree I even saw blocking the road was on one of the side trails. There are even two sizable large paths plastered with blackberry bushes if you have a sudden sweet tooth! Unfortunately coming across a trail this well maintained always leads to increased popularity. But, depending on the paths you choose it can still be large enough that you hardly end up running across people. In total, I spent over 3 hours wandering around and still didn’t walk all the trails. And for that reason, I’ll be coming back for more in the future.
