If you’re up for an even bigger challenge (especially if you want more elevation and views off the lake), there’s a longer loop:
Distance: ~11.5–12.4 miles.Elevation gain: Higher (up to ~1,400 ft or more)
Routes: Combines West Shore, Bass Cove, Brandon, and East Shore trails, Anthony Chabot Regional Park.
It was an adjoining park with more extensive backcountry routes — sometimes incorporating Highland or Skyline connectors.
This version will take more time (~4–6 hrs depending on pace/conditions) and some steeper sections.

Anthony Chabot Regional Park offers multiple trail options—7 Hills with its natural rolling inclines and declines, Cameron Loop, Ten Hills Trail, Brandon Trail, and more—so you can truly choose your own path. I met a couple of very friendly, helpful folks along the way. From catching the sunset to crossing bridges and stopping by a creek, there’s plenty to keep the hike engaging and enjoyable.

It’s a good distance run/walk. Total 9 miles. Beautiful view. I saw rabbits, birds, ducks, squirrels, and the lake alone is enough. Plus the trees. Grass. Grass.
You can run, hike, or bike. There are bathrooms and picnic tables.

I had a great experience! The trail around the lake was truly enjoyable. The route has minimal elevation changes, making it comfortable for everyone—kids, seniors, and adults alike. There are no steep climbs or sharp descents, so you can walk it at a relaxed pace without much effort.
The views along the way are stunning. Almost the entire trail offers picturesque views of the lake, where you can see people boating. You can also rent boats, pedal boats, and other watercraft, which adds to the fun and variety. I highly recommend this trail for a peaceful walk and a refreshing nature getaway!
