This park is placed between the Thornton civic center and Walmart town center. You can fish (fishing license required). Walk, ride your bike. Or view nature. Also being on the top of the hill on Thornton parkway. You have an panoramic view of the greater metro area.
Cool little lake. Gets really weedy by June. Makes it tough to fish. Decent crappie fishing. Some cats, some bass. It's only issue is shore access is only about half the lake. The other issue is people. It gets crowded. Take a wild guess what else they do there.... Throw trash all over. Fishing line. Garbage everywhere, cigarette butts bottles cans. It looks like an open air landfill half the time. Disgusting. This place used to have trophy panfish of all types. Key words used to.
The perfect family dog walk! We love coming here. This park is beautiful and extremely under used. Day or night we have been here many times and always stayed safe. The police station is active and right up the hill at the parking lot so it makes us feel safer.
Also known as Croke Lake in Google maps but the signs say Civic Center Lake and Park. Wasn't crowded. Nice wide sidewalks. It would be 5 star if it wasn't by the highway.
We went here are around 7pm to do a bit of geocaching before bed so I see it in the dark it is very well maintained and probably one of the safer park/picnic area around cause it is right next to the police station. It has plenty of picnic tables and some walking paths around the water. The only thing to be aware of is the number of geese and goose poop so maybe bring some bread and a blanket and watch your step
