Decker Lake Park is a pleasant place to go for a walk or take your dog out. While it doesn’t have a playground for kids, it does offer covered seating and a nice trail that loops around the lake. You can often spot wildlife such as seagulls, ducks, and other birds. There is a small parking lot on the east side of the lake, along with a portable restroom and a few trash cans near the entrance. Unfortunately, the last time we visited, we noticed quite a bit of litter along the trail that could have easily been picked up, as well as dog waste in several areas.

Walking trail around the lake with scenic mountain views. Depending on the time sometimes the water is rank smelling. Have to watch all the bird droppings as well. A good place in the city to get steps in

It’s definitely not the best lake in Utah or even one to really consider but it is better than another building or an empty field. It is a little run down and gross but it is in the center of a business park. It has fish and all different kinds of birds are always flying around so it isn’t lifeless. It just needs a little life put back into it. For what it is it isn’t to bad.

Decker Lake is a pleasant and less well-known escape in the middle of west valley city. It used to be much larger and was often sailed on but has since been downsized. The south side of the lake has ample parking and a grass lawn that stretches from the road to the lake. There is a packed gravel walking path along the perimeter of the lake and an even smaller path closer to the shore. There are fish in the lake and fishing is permitted. Wildlife can be seen in abundance and this is a great spot to feed ducks or geese. I wouldn’t recommend swimming in the water as it seems a little stagnant and has a smell during the hot summer days. There are mosquitos, so wear bug repellant if planning on staying longer than fifteen minutes.

It has it's good points. The pelicans are cool. But over all its trashed. Trash floating up everywhere. Just filthy! Considering the lack of large bodies of water in the salt lake area you'd think the existing ones would be better taken care of. A good walk if you stick to the path and stay away from the shore....
