Hidden Falls Park is at the North end of the Eliza Fox Trail, next to the Hidden Falls neighborhood and across the street from Beechwood Farms Nature Reserve. The park is also accessible from the South from a small, Permit Only parking lot on Old Mill Road across the street from Hardie Valley Park and is accessible from points South along the Eliza Fox Trail. (Permits available at Cooper Siegel Library). This trail connects Beechwood Farms Nature Reserve to O'Hara Township Community Park, passing through 7 of Fox Chapel Borough Parks along the way. New signs and maps are coming soon to mark trail heads, Park names and to mark trail distances. Hidden Falls Park features a gravel to dirt trail, descending in elevation from North to South with five stream crossings before you reach a trail segment at the bottom of the valley that is relatively flat along a stream. The stream features a few small and hidden water falls in spring after rain and snow melt. A wildflower meadow has been newly seeded at the Northern Park Entrance, a project led by Mayor Scott, new park benches have been installed, and extensive native tree and shrub plantings have been led by Park Stewards and local students to enhance habitat for pollinators, birds and wildlife. Special tree and shrub species were selected to support biodiversity, protect water quality, and improve stormwater management at the Southern Park Entrance. Thank you to Audubon Society of Western PA, Tree Pittsburgh, and Allegheny County Parks for your partnerships in education and tree grants! 💚🌿🌳

A nice off leash trail for dogs!

Carrie Kinga year ago

Google maps first diecred mecto an area that was probably near the trail but was on a private street and obviously no parking in someone's driveway where Maps said to stop. I had to drive to Beechwood I only walked the first quarter mile or so, after the convenient parking at Beechwood Farms. The area at the beginning of the trail is next to a big neighborhood under construction, so not very woodsy. There may be nicer areas further on. It's downhill on the way there and uphill on the way back. Crossing Dorseyville road could be challenging with unruly dogs.

This trail is a great connector to the Beechwood Farms trail system. The many stream crossings allow people to look at the local Pennsylvanian aged geology, and look at local wildlife. I once saw a box turtle here. Another comment mentioned the off-leash dogs, and I only had one negative experience but that was with a dog owner who didn't have control of their dog. I don't think that negatively affected my view of the trail though.

Beautiful and quiet with the sound of the stream it follows bubbling along beside you. Highly recommend muck boots, there are several large puddles, unavoidable slurpy mud, and you ford the stream multiple times. Dog loved being off-leash. Fabulous trail if you wear the right shoes and don't mind getting a bit wet/muddy.
