This is the perfect place to go for a walk, outdoor show, or picnic in NW DC. The grounds are maintained well and there's plenty of room to accommodate lots of people. It's not heavily forested (which might sound like a downside for a park), but its sense of expansiveness -- which is only accented on a gorgeous day -- gives Fort Reno something special. Adding to the uniqueness is the architecture of the towers and the graffiti murals.
In the winter snow, this hillside becomes a sledding hill. It is excellent sledding at a high altitude point in DC. A two-hill course with the larger hill first. A beautiful sunset begins at 5:00 and lasts an hour.
