Really quiet preserve that connects to Whalon Lake, DuPage River Park, and the DuPage River paved trail. There's a couple small trails that lead through the woods in the preserve itself. One trail section was closed, and I believe access and parking at the preserve is limited in the winter. I was able to access the preserve via the paved trail from Whalon Lake.

Wow, the nature center is very well designed. There's a bunch of animals to see (snakes, turtles, and more!) and there's a lot of interactive activities for kids to do. There are a few trails and a natural playground for the youngsters. The staff is helpful and happy too. Will County really has done amazing things with their forest preserves and this is no different. Take two hours and escape to a beautiful forested area where you can relax and see nature!

This place is a gem! The staff is super nice, the building is awesome and so conducive for children's learning! If you have toddlers, I would definitely bring them to check this place out!

UPDATE: second time here to do a paint your rain barrels event. Loved it! This center puts together some really nice programs. First time here, I came to see hummingbirds on the roof top garden and not a one showed up. But I stayed on the roof for a little while because it was peaceful. (I arrived when they first opened so no one else was there). The quiet went away when a number of kids showed up. This is a nice nature center, plus the staff is very helpful. There are trails, and behind the center they have a very rustic kids area in the woods. There are trails that take you to the trout ponds or lakes, but I chose to drive there. Many people were fishing, riding bikes, and walking. There is a bait store to buy anything you may need.

We love this gem in Bolingbrook. We have walked some of the tails and been down by the lake, but today we visited the nature center with our toddler, and she had so much fun. There are many small interactive stations for children and a few animals to see. Lots of learning opportunities! It was perfect for a relaxed Friday afternoon with our daughter.
