Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful little park situated in a central location off of 4th/rangeline. I've taken my toddler son here since he was an infant, the landscape around the park is absolutely beautiful. There is a walking trail around the full plot of land as well as a small walking trail directly around the park if you like to walk while your kids play. I've seen some negative commentary related to the gazebo shelter being used by homeless citizens, but I would love to remind everyone that these are human beings that have just as much of a right to this park as anyone else. These humans are often very kind and try their best to be unobstructive while getting out of the heat, eating a meal, or charging their devices. Never felt unsafe as a woman with a child here, and encourage any family to spend time at this park.
Nice little park with a stream running through it. Great place for a walk or picnic! We take our grandson to play at the park here all the time!
Good place for picnic. Large kids play area.
We held many family gatherings at Leonard Park over the years. It was a place near where our Mom/Grandma/Great Grandma lived and was family friendly for all ages. I could slide with my baby down the slides. My 20 year old cousin could slide with the cousins down the slide. My 14 year old could chase my 7 year old around the equipment. We held many holidays and celebrations under the shelter. Then the equipment was changed and was no longer friendly for all ages 10 and under no longer applied to my children. We were disappointed and started looking for other venues that were more accommodating to our growing family. Once the shelter was taken over by graffiti and the unhoused we stopped using Leonard Park altogether. I stopped by this morning on my way to work and it looked like the park was cleaner than it has been on previous occasions. Hopefully with the extended paved walking path and a few Poke stops Leonard Park might start turning around. Time will tell. I would love to take my grandchildren down the slides some day soon. Here's hoping
Great playground equipment for the children and plenty of room to run. Tennis courts. Lots of people take advantage of the covered outdoor building for Birthday parties and other activities.
