This is our favorite place to walk our dog when the temperatures are below 60 degrees. When it's hotter than that, it's too much for her, and there isn't any shade along the trail. The views along the trail are beautiful. The length of the trail is also perfect for walking our pup, getting her tired, and allowing her time to meet some other nice doggies. Portions of the trail system here allow dogs to be off leash, and other areas require that dogs be leashed. The parking at this trailhead does get a bit packed, and there are also many mountain bikers that use these trails. Make sure your dog is under control so they don't get hit by a biker. There are also porcupines and mountain lions that are in this area, so please be careful with your pups. There is a water fountain in the parking lot that also has a water fountain for dogs, but it is turned off for the colder months. (The water fountain was turned off today, 15 Nov 2025.)
This was an awesome night-hike in the snow. Frankly, I'm not sure which trail we ended up walking, but with our kids we probably only ventured less than half a mile into the wilderness. But with fresh snow I thought we were going to be in for a harder time than we had, but it seems as though someone flattened much of the snow along the trails, so we were easily able to find and keep our way.
👌📷 This is a great hike overall. You see some incredible views of Salt Lake and Utah County. A solid 360 degree view. You can bring dogs on this trail but will be required to be on a leash at times. Remember to bring a poop bag for them as well and remember to help keep our Mountains beautiful by leaving no trace. 🤘
Start of maple hollow downhill trail. Beautiful park.
Cute little area with trees, grass & a couple benches. It has a trail map, a few parking spaces, and access to the Maple Hollow downhill bike trail & Traverse Mountain trail system. More parking & bathrooms are a short walk away
