The best park I've ever gone to by far. I've been going here since I was 5 years old, and nearly 20 years later, traveling all over the place, I can confidently say this. From the beautiful view at the top, to the ethereal trees all over the place, you will never get bored here. I forget I'm even in a city when I'm on the trails. It's a super family friendly place. A few years ago there was a lovely area for free concerts in july, but unfortunately some damage has hurt the park in that reguards. I feel like everyone should experience this special place at least once in their lives. Support the park! Let's give Mount Tabor the love it deserves!

This park is on a mountain with pretty steep elevation, so if you're not ready to climb, I would suggest just driving up and parking the car by the street and climbing from the reservoir area. It's much easier. The view is beautiful, especially from the peak of the park, and there are trails for both walkers and bicycle riders. There is also a dog park on the south side, which I haven't gone to, but I see many people walking their dogs heading down to that area. There are two reservoirs on the west side, providing a good view towards downtown, and picnic or camping right by the water.

Mt. Tabor Park in Portland turned out to be a really nice surprise. The drive up itself was pleasant, and once you enter the park, it doesn’t feel like you’re in the middle of a city anymore. Everything feels open, green, and calm. It’s hard to believe this place sits on an old volcano right inside Portland. The park is well maintained and easy to explore. There are wide paths for walking, plenty of open spaces, and many spots where you can just stop and sit for a while. We saw people walking their dogs, families relaxing, people playing music, runners, and others simply enjoying the view. It felt lively but not crowded or noisy. The reservoirs add to the charm and make the place feel peaceful. We spent a good amount of time just walking around without any rush. Mt. Tabor Park is a great place to unwind and enjoy some simple outdoor time.

If you GPS to the Mt. Tabor tennis courts it will bring you close enough to the area where the reservoir is. There is parking in the nearby neighborhoods. Steep stairs or a ramp will take you up to the paved (but bumpy) walkway around the entire reservoir. It’s a pretty short walk around if you have long legs and walk briskly. You could finish the loop in about twenty minutes and probably make it back to your car. This is on the west side of the hill, so no Mountain View.

One of the better views in Portland. The off leash dog park is pretty nice, and there are lots of trails to enjoy. Note that this is a popular spot, so you will see a lot of other people on the trails and in the park.
