On contrary to the expectations, the lakeshore adjacent to the park, didn't seem to be active at the time of our visit, on a national holiday! A small walking trail, benches and a Pavilion but mostly covered with ducks and their reliefs! Maintenance could be better ! The memorial for the 9/11 twin tower is very patriotic and commendable. Kudos to the artist! The private boating activities were kind of busy ! The Ambitheater seemed impressive though !

Have not lived here in 21 years. As part of my vacation going around to all my childhood places. My walk was so peaceful and good to see changes to the park. Amphitheater coming along great.

I really like the outdoor exercise equipment they have set up here. It’s called the Decatur Memorial Hospital Fitness Station, so I’m guessing it was DMH that paid for this. Unlike at Fairview Park, this fitness station is set up far away from a kids playground. There have often been kids around when I’ve been to the adult workout equipment at Fairview, and while kids are fine, I’d prefer for them to play on the kids’ equipment and let me workout. There’s a huge variety of outdoor equipment. Pull up/chin up bars, parallel bars, and loads of other things. I also like the platforms of varying heights, which I use to do step-ups. The park district here does a pretty good job as far as I can tell.

Nice lakefront park. Great place for a stroll around the lake. We had lots of fun flying kites by the lake. We went in March on a sunny day and it wasn't busy at all

I'm always carrying on about how little there is to do in Decatur especially that isn't eating or expensive! Discovering this area had me pretty excited!
