Sadly EF3 tornado damage 6 years ago destroyed so much of this great reserve. Coming back from that extreme loss of trees will take years to recover. However, what remains is quite adequate and for families with young children is a great place to visit. The playgrounds are certainly fun, and the short trail are easy to do. It is not sufficient for real hiking, you would have to patchwork 6-8 separate trails just to make it real hike. A great place for a family picnic though.

The prairie areas are the best part, featuring lots of butterflies. Probably a good place for families but not the best for day hiking.

This is my favorite park in the Fairborn area so far! There's a great park, pavilion, pond, and so much to explore in the trails! There's a birdwatching station - which wasn't very as active when I was there in late October, but was very comfortable. I love the meadow with benches nestled into the trees along the trail, it's a great spot to enjoy the sunset. The trails usually aren't very busy, but sometimes there's quite a few people at the park in the front, never been a problem though! Last time I was there, we saw the sweetest cat guarding the trail. He came over to us and said hi:) We called him Smoky but if anyone knows if he has a name I'd love to hear!

This park is beautiful! The trails aren’t super long but there are several of varying distances to choose from. The playgrounds are super awesome and interesting- a good mix of natural elements and non natural elements. There are restrooms and a beautiful shelter that can be rented for parties. The trails are well marked.

This is an okay preserve. Not much to see right now. I took the perimeter loop which has almost NO shade so be aware of that when hiking in the summer. There are plenty of inner trails but I wasn’t able to hike them. There are plenty of birds, a cool edible garden, pond and a nice shaded garden that looks freshly built. Will come back in the summer to see the summer wildflowers Nature Preserve Park Hiking Trails
