Seal Point Park in San Mateo is a hidden gem that offers a unique juxtaposition of industrial marvels and serene natural beauty. Perched along the San Francisco Bay, it serves as one of the premier vantage points for aviation enthusiasts. Because of its strategic location, you can watch a steady stream of commercial airliners on their final descent into SFO. Seeing these massive jets glide silently over the shimmering water before touching down is a captivating sight that never gets old. However, the park is equally famous for its thriving ecosystem. The restored marshlands and mudflats are a magnet for diverse shorebirds. Depending on the tide, you’ll find clusters of Sandpipers skittering along the water’s edge and various species of ducks—including Buffleheads and Scaups—bobbing in the shallows.

A very beautiful vista point where you can see the Dumbarton Bridge from here. There’s a nice trail for biking, and you’ll spot plenty of pigeons and seagulls around. You can also watch flights coming in to land at SFO, which makes the view even more interestin

Nice views and trails in all directions are beautiful. Always great weather to walk around there. There are some burrowing owls in season. Shorebirds always there. No seals or sea lions tho.

I walk my dog here all the time. The loop takes about 20 minutes, which is nice and easy. The dog park is spacious, and the views are good. It’s a solid spot for a regular walk and getting some fresh air.

Very peaceful park. Long trail for plenty of walking and biking. Good views. Plenty of parking. I'd go again
