I've lived just north of Pittsburgh my entire life and have never spent any time in South Park. We wound up doing my son's fall pictures there and I couldn't get over how absolutely beautiful the park is. I highly highly recommend using it as a backdrop for your fall photos if you get a chance.

A fun, clean, cheap place to spend a summer afternoon! Plenty of lifeguards and lots of grass and turf to spread out on. They rent tubes and have concessions as well. The bathrooms are large and well maintained, with changing areas and showers. There are also a few pavilions for picnics and parties.

South Park is my must visit spot when I visit Pittsburgh, it is family friendly, you can do a lot of things there, the amenities are great. The place is huge so everyone can find a spot they want to spend time at. The cascade area was beautiful. We saw deers, talked to people and had a good peaceful relaxing time.

The 2 roads we were on, and the police horses we saw were a delight. We wanted to just find a place to sit and grab some sliced fruit from Giant Eagle on the way in. Sat under the older shelter that was walking distance from the parking area there. It was a really nice afternoon and we will definitely be back.

Great 2,000+ acre park in Allegheny County! Amazing things to do and see here, definitely a little drive from the city but absolutely worth it!
