i wouldn't really boast about this park being that big of a deal. it's a small patch of grass with minimal shade and the grass is patchy or at least it was when we visited. we were hoping there would be a small walking trail or something to see or do for entertainment but there really wasn't. there is a building which we didn't get near but it looked like the windows were boarded up and run down. i hope they can add something here or make it a better park altogether. i highly suggest not going out of your way to visit like we did as it was a mistake. the only upside was that there was parking available but aside from that i wouldn't recommend visiting.

Early mornings are so much better if your dogs are not dog friendly. They can enjoy the park to themselves. But it gets a bit crowded after 1pm. Dogs are loose and cross to the side of the street and it can get a bit scary if cars are constantly driving by. It would be great if we can fence it up so as dog owners we can feel a bit more safe letting the dogs loose.

A cute little mini-park tucked along the side of the beautiful + historic Mt. Saint Mary University. Many big, shady trees + lots of pretty grass. Popular for dog walks. Many well-behaved dogs come here for off-leash play. Small garden in center. 1 working water fountain. Relatively safe area even after dark. Pretty neighborhood lends to a nice walk too. Street parking is almost always an available. Popular with students to study + stretch. A few homeless folks do hang here now + then but I've never had any problems over the many years I've been coming here. No fenced dog area so watch them carefully. No playground. No restrooms. No benches. Nearby mini-market 1 street away. A historical marker across street has interesting story of this place too. Worth a read. Please pick up your dog waste + trash, friends, so we can all enjoy.

Friendly neighborhood historic park. Be sure to read the history of St James Park on the angel walk sign when you're there.
