Visited with my family on January 4, 2026. Runyon Canyon Park is one of the best hiking spots in Los Angeles. The trail offers great views of the city, and from certain points you can see Downtown LA, Griffith Observatory, and even the Hollywood Sign from a unique perspective. The terrain goes downhill first and then climbs back up, which can be a bit challenging but still very manageable for most people. Just make sure to carry water, especially on sunny days. Whenever I’m in Los Angeles, this is a hike I never miss.
Read more about Runyon Canyon ParkCan’t recommend Doggieland enough! My two adorable pugs Rocket and Zoe absolutely love staying there, they come home happy, exhausted, and full of tail wags every single time. The staff is incredible. They are always playing with the dogs, giving them tons of attention and affection. It’s clear they genuinely care about every pup. One of the best features is the camera access, which lets me check in anytime and watch my boys zooming around and having a blast. Seeing them socialize and play with other dogs puts my mind at ease when I’m away, it’s like a fun doggy playground! If you’re looking for a place where your dogs are treated like family, Doggieland is the spot. 5 stars all the way!”
Read more about South Park Doggie - Doggieland (LA)Incredible how beautiful this place is, super clean. The staff super helpful and everything went super smoothly. We parked at the bottom (free parking) and took the bus. 50 cents per person. You can pay with cash. 10 dollar parking all the way up, great place to go before sunset.
Read more about Griffith ParkVista Hermosa Park is a large 10.5-acres park in the middle of the city of Los Angeles. There is decent parking, an incredible green space, a play area for kids and a soccer field in an all grassy area with incredibly rare views of downtown. 🚻 Restrooms 🐕 This park is ideal to bring your dogs to 🧺 Benches for picnics or sitting. 🏞 Large Grass areas 🌳 Trees for shade 🚗 Parking on the street and in a gated parking lot 💧 Water Fountains 🗑 Trash bins ⚽️ Soccer Field 🚲 Trail or path thru the park 🦋 Nature Trail 👣 with native plants 🛝🐢 Children's Play Area The Park itself is a widely open area with large fields, incredibly large trees for shade and a tranquil view. It's astounding to see you are in the middle of the city while in this park, because it feels like a forest in places, especiallynext to the running stream. This park is perfect for an afternoon picnic, spending a moment in nature, or taking a walk on the pathway. The Children's area is limited with a concrete turtle-slide thats difficult to slide down and some spaces to climb. There is also a snake that winds around the area which is very cute to see. Unfortunately this area caters to younger children but since the park is close to the street on this side, the younger children definitely require supervision while playing here. Scattered through the park are breathtaking vistas of Los Angeles City. I'd recommend to plan a stop here for at least an hour while enjoying the serene landscape found here.
