This is my favorite hidden gem of the Dayton Metroparks system. Beautiful hike no matter which loop you choose, and I really like it as my "home" hiking spot as there are trails at three different levels of difficulty- you can choose how to challenge yourself. They also meet and cross at various points so if you get too ambitious you can default to the easier loops. It is dog friendly but must be leashed and I recommend not bringing your dog if they might react aggressively to other dogs. There is not much room on many of the trails to be separate from someone walking the other way if needed. Also keep your eyes and ears open as many like using the trail to run or bike, so be courteous :) There is a great hydration station at the trailhead, and clearly marked/mapped trails. It is a bit remote once deep in the park and I don't do the hike without my dog due to this, however, never had any bad experiences. Views are breathtaking in spots and natural Ohio wildlife abounds. It can get wet and slippery if there's been a lot of rain and there are some wicked inclines/declines. However..... Still my favorite park. Really enjoy it Update May 26, 2025: Still a beautiful park. Trails need a little cleanup but not too bad on the whole for how much rain there's been. Saw bunnies and other wildlife this time, it's still so beautiful here.

Coming from Cincinnati, this is one of my favorite places to hike. Today, we saw lots of wildflowers, some we had never seen before. The hike had nice elevation changes, and the vegetation changed as we went along the trail.

Very nice park with a variety of hilly landscapes. The trails can be a workout, though - not for those with gross motor issues. You can find yourself atop a few ridges with steep embankments on both sides (for this part of Ohio, at least). As with all parks, there's litter here or there, and sadly, a few tires among the trails. Bring something with Deet and be aware of poison ivy - it is everywhere on these trails. I was staying in Franklin for business for 4 days and found this park on Google Maps. There are several short distance trails (2m), but I did the entire 6m orange trail which provided lots of changes of scenery. Loved the adventure! The trail is pretty much all nature and narrow in many places, so not for someone looking to walk a flat paved trail. You will climb a few steep slopes! Enjoy!

Beautiful place to hike, different trails for different levels of hikers. Some areas can be narrow with pretty big drops offs on both sides so be careful if you're doing the orange trail. I go here at least twice a week during warmer months. Favorite hiking spot!
