Before it was incorporated as Miami Gardens on May 13, 2003, this area was known as Carol City. That same year this Carol City Park was renamed in honor of one of the greatest high school football coaches in Florida history, Walt Frazier. Several of his former players including Ricky Jean Francois, Aubrey Hill, Santana Moss, Sinorice Moss, Kenny Phillips, Willie Williams, Ethenic Sands and William Roberts went on to the NFL. From 1983 to 2007, Frazier's Carol City Chiefs were one of the premier high school programs in the state and in the nation. They won three Class 6A state championships in 1996,1997 and 2003. The Miami Gardens HBCU High School Sports Camp and Combine also was renamed in Frazier's honor. In January of this year, the Orange Bowl Committee and Miami-Dade County broke ground on a $2.3 million renovation of the park which included a new football field, electronic scoreboard, new press box, shaded seating, and building refurbishments. Other park amenities include a baseball field, basketball court, meeting rooms, multipurpose fields, and a playground. I enjoyed the walking path that runs the perimeter of the park. it is nice to see a local legend honored here as this park is upgraded for future generations of football players.

I checked this place out for the first time the place had that comfortable, lived-in feel. The sunset was the best part. I could finally reset for a bit without noise in my head. the lighting made it feel warm instead of sterile. the music was at a perfect volume, not blasting in your ears. This is going into my regular rotation.

New football field, there is a softball/baseball field and a Pavillion w/no tables/chairs. The park is being renovated little by little and I'm looking forward to the finish

The governance of Miami Gardens parks & recreation is very confusing to understand when it comes to how they enforce their so-called "rules." Many illegal activities take place within this park, right in front of children, (involving drugs, alcohol, violence, littering, substance abuse, etc,) but the park rangers never chase away those people contributing to illicit activities. But let a man try to exercise on some grass (that tax payers pay for) and their park rangers will most likely chase him away and even call the MG police to sit in the parking lot and wait for him to leave. Their rangers will lie and say that the field is closed because of grass treatment. We actually live in this community, those fields are not being sprayed daily, so it should not remain closed all the time. If the field isn't safe for adults to exercise, how is it safe for the children to use? We can understand that while the youth sports teams are using the fields, adults should yield for the benefit of the youth programs, but at some point adults need their time to enjoy it too. We can also understand restricting particular usage of MG facilities but not barring all usage. Be fair, Miami Gardens parks & recreation!!!
