This park offers open space, bike trails, mowed trails, pavilions, prairie, marsh, historic relics, large and small dog park, fishing, kayaking, wildlife, deer, trees and overall pristine natural beauty. It’s a hidden gem that has different personalities each season of the year and time of the day. Hope you go enjoy this beautiful nature preserve.

Bike/ walk trails, picnic tables and grills available, beautiful scenery. A bit of city noise so not a total escape from it but pretty close. We saw herons, geese, ducks, turtles... veeeeeery lively there with animals.

Well maintained off leash areas for large and small dogs. Excellent year round location for your dog(s) to blow off energy and rest when they get back home.

If we still lived in the area, we definitely would have continued our membership. Absolutely worth every penny, assuming you actually bring your dog. The park is gigantic and is split up into two sides. This allows for the grass to heal on one side and not get too muddy. The park rangers do come and check for passes from time to time so if you intend on trying to sneak in for free, be wary that they actually do check. Overall, the park is very well maintained. Owners who go here are responsible and actually clean up after their dogs. We now live closer to a free park which is nice, but the size and quality of Whalon Lake is unmatched.

Nice park Lake has usually been good fishing when I fish. Dog park you need a permit $20 for 6 months according to patron I asked said they don't charge if it is a 1 time visit. This photo is a short walk south of dog park.
