Windmill Park is a popular outdoor recreation resource in Coconut Creek. The park opened in 1993 and was named for the windmill on the farm of Earl Johns, one of the area's first residents. A major park expansion took place in 2019 which added a new parking lot, redesigned tennis courts, expanded dog park, ADA-approved playground, exercise paths, picnic pavilions, restrooms. pickleball, racquetball, volleyball, and basketball courts. I used to come to this park often with my daughter because the elementary school she attended is across the street. I still find myself coming here to exercise. There is outdoor fitness equipment and a paved pathway that winds throughout the park. I often do a circuit that takes me out of the park into the neighborhood, down to the community center and back down the path along the lake that returns you to the park. Along the way I will see kids riding their bikes, people walking their adorable dogs, and lots of native birds. Windmill Park is clean, well maintained, and offers plenty of open space to walk, relax, or spend time with family and friends. This is a very busy park in Coconut and you will always see people here during the day and throughout the night.

This is by far the worst “DOG PARK” I’ve ever been to in my entire life. This is why …… Yesterday 10/05/25 to be EXACT, myself , my daughter (10years old) & my two nieces (4 and 14) all went to the park to play. I brought my two small dogs to eventually take them to the dog park next to it like I always do at least once a week. But, yesterday was the children’s FIRST time there. As we all walked through the gate I puffed my vape ONCE and I didn’t want to cause any trouble so once we were all the way inside I put it away. But all eyes immediately were on us. There was about 8 older people under the hut 🛖 not even 2 minutes of being there an older lady walked up to us and had no respect, did not greet us by saying hello or anything, she rudely asked if we have a key fob and I said yes we do. She then said there’s no smoking which I told her I was well aware & I have not hit my VAPE since we entered the park. So she walked away with an attitude. My daughter then proceeds to tell me the lady told her “it’s not a kids park”, so I then walked over there to ask her why she told my daughter that? If she is clearly a “MINOR” you are suppose to find the adult and say whatever you’d like. But what was the purpose of that statement anyways? She then says “I didn’t say that, I told her it’s a dog park” so I simply asked, WHYYYY did you even tell her that? We KNOW it’s a dog park! But is she bothering you? Is she bothering anybody’s dogs? She couldn’t even say anything after that! We were literally standing there quietly letting the dogs roam and we instantly became a target I honestly believe because my nieces are mixed. The looks on their faces were is disgust for absolutely NO REASON. It’s heartbreaking to see humans act that way and have no respect. NEVER AGAIN!!! I do not recommend this dog park to anyone of color or any children. Oh I also have a full video too. This is a screenshot from the video, the lady in the black shirt … oh and the one with the Ireland shirt was trying to put her two cents in at times as well

This is a really nice and clean park to bring the children to play and have fun!!! There is a big dog partk too. They have tennis courts and a basketball court and a walking trail. I'll definitely add this park to my list of parks to visit often!!!
