Excellent bike path with lots to explore and easy access to dirt bike trails. Runs through Slater Park and has baseball fields at both ends
Read more about Ten Mile River Preservation Trail2 part review: After trying 22 other parks, this was the winner. Perfect size. Plush grass. Groomed. Shade. Clean. Safe. Separate sides for big and small. Parking. Great water source. Not on a main road. They have chairs and a double gate. Right across from a shelter and even the shelter has their own side!. Oh and the view across the water! 45 min ride for us from CT was worth every penny of gas. Until: Please beware, an older woman who is a regular visitor (every day) with two tiny little poodles believes she owns the place and has no problem calling the police on people who bring their friendly shy 30 pound puppies onto the small dog side. Drama and arguing with it. No one had a problem with it but her. Utterly ridiculous and a waste of tax payer resources. I wanted to apologize to the police officer I was so embarrassed for her. I have stopped going because we want peace for our pups, not angst for every passer by who *might* be coming in. If she's not there, it is a wonderful quiet place!
Read more about Westerly Dog ParkSuper cute playground with an area for littles 2+ and an area for bigger kids separated by picnic tables so the kids don't bump into each other. Good shade trees around the edges and lots of benches for parents. Also has a neat rock climbing wall. Seems like this place was closed for renovations recently but it now reopened and I'm so glad it is. It's a hidden gem! My little guy loves the elephant statue out front too. Also on the other side of the parking lot from a snack stand which is convenient. Can't wait to go back.
Read more about Adventure PlaygroundOne of the worst parks I've ever been to! It sounds great when someone tells you about it because there are grills, stone fire places, a pool, tennis court..etc. but when you get there the first thing you'll notice is the amount of garbage all over the place! The grass is patchy, hard and ugly. There's more ant hills than grass. There's too many bugs! The flies will swarm around your food! The people here will comfortably smoke marijuana next to you and your children. I'm okay with people being stoners and needing it medically but please be considerate of other people and the children. Also make sure to never leave anything behind because it WILL get stolen. You'll never see it again and the staff will not be of any help at all.
