What dog owners are saying
Recent review snippets help visitors gauge vibe, upkeep, and who each park suits best.
This is a very good place to bring your dog. I drive 40 minutes to come here just because my dog loves it. If you visit this park, your dog should have good recall training because it is such an open space. There is a small, fully fenced area for small dogs, and the rest is a large open space with fencing near the parking area, while the remaining boundary is naturally blocked off by a river that runs along both walking paths. My dog really enjoys the open field and is able to ignore other dogs and just play ball the way she likes. I was also able to use the river to help my dog get over her fear of water by gradually bringing her into the shallow river, and now she jumps in whenever she gets too hot from running. Most of the other dogs here are friendly, and people respect the rules and pick up after their dogs.
Read more about Southbury Dog ParkLarge grassy park at the top of a (small) mountain. The park space has trees, slopes, and rock walls and separate sections for large and small dogs. There is a platform with seating and a shade pavilion. Bring a hilltop means that there is pretty much a constant breeze, so dress appropriately. There was a bag dispenser, but it was empty. Trash at the entrance. People and dogs were super friendly. (Door magnets are SUPER strong, so opening the door takes some oomph)

It was SUPER muddy on the day that we visited, although it was mostly decent grass cover. The park is much larger than it first looks, with a wider section beyond the narrow view from the entrance. Water and bags only in the entrance. Trash is a dumpster outside the park. Separate sections for large and small dogs, although the small dog side is much smaller.
