What dog owners are saying
Recent review snippets help visitors gauge vibe, upkeep, and who each park suits best.
The only dog park downtown. It’s a definitely an afterthought with a parking lot bigger than the park and fenced into two areas with trees in planters and the fencing leaves like 20 ft of the lot wasted on half of it. It’s like a child drew a picture of a dog park and GR said “we will build this”. Slightly better than no park though.
Read more about Downtown Dog ParkOwners beware. I brought my dog here around 4 or 5 times within about a 8 month span. Nearly every single time I have, there has always been at least one territorial/ aggressive dog. This last time was the last time. When I brought my dog there recently, she got ran down and bit by a very aggressive dog. The owner looked dumbfounded as if she was unaware (the dog was barking at other dogs and snapping). This bite actually happened to take a chunk out of my dog, costing me over 1k in bills. We didn’t get any information from the owner (yes hindsight is 20/20 and we would’ve, but we just wanted to make sure she was okay and seen as fast as we could. I also would’ve probably not acted in the best way or done something worse to her dog). This is a public park so it was always a risk. I just don’t understand how owners who 1. Can’t control their dog and 2. Know their dog is aggressive/standoff-ish would ever think it’s a good idea to bring their animal to a public space. Just giving my experience. This isn’t all dogs there mind you, we have encountered a lot more friendly and loving dogs there than not. There is just always the one you have to be wary of because their owners won’t be.
Read more about Cascade Dog ParkAmazing Kent County Park with TWO outstanding playgrounds, copious public-use green spaces, along with multiple rentable pavilions. Best of all it's located at Emunds Lake in the heart of Caledonia.
Read more about Caledonia Lakeside ParkThis is a pretty large, nice park. I had a chance to explore only a corner of it. There is a dog park at the leftmost end of the park, with parking right next to it. One end of the catch and release fishing pond is pretty close to the dog park and the parking. At the other end of the elongated pond is a pavilion with picnic tables, a playground, and the restrooms. There are basketball, volleyball, soccer, baseball and softball fields, and trails all around. The township says the park is 59 acres, so there is a lot to enjoy.
